Hi and welcome to my website. |
On this site I would like to show some of
my skills and at the same time offer you resources like free
textures, skyboxes, Blitz3D / Blitz Max code snippets and
tutorials for your projects. I will update this site whenever
something important happens or when there are new resources.
Hopefully this will be at least once a month. Feel free to
look around and use any stuff you need. If you do so, it would
be nice to give me credits and a link to my site. If you have
any questions please do not hesitate to contact
me. |

Textures and skyboxes for
your projects. Tutorials. |
I make most of
my textures using my own reference pictures. Taking your own
refpics is fun and looking at the process of them becoming
textures is awesome. I started creating photo textures about
4 or 5 years ago with a Kodak DX 3600 Zoom which I am still
using today. Every single texture I made has a story of its
own and I remember exactly where and when I took the refpic.

The Archive. |
 |
The archive
contains about 50 percent of the textures I have made
so far. Some of them are up to 4 years old - I did not
delete them to show my own development. There are four
texture categories: Walls, Nature, Miscellaneous and
Cube. I will add new textures over time, so it might
be worthwile to look again in a few weeks.
Please have a look at the legal notes
before downloading the textures.

Blitz3D and Blitz Max code
snippets. Tutorials. |
Coding is one of my favorite
'nerd' hobbies. I love to translate things into computer language
and work them out until they do what they are supposed to.
I started coding with QBasic and proceeded with BlitzBasic,
a great tool for creating games.
In this section of my site I would like to share the best
of my BlitzBasic and BlitzMax libraries. I have to admit there
are not too many of them at the time of writing, but I will
try to change that. |
BlitzBasic / Blitz3D Perlin
Noise Heightmap Generator. |
 |
After
having read this
tutorial (well written and interesting) about Perlin
Noise and its use I just had to write my own Heightmap
Generator.
Although it is a little slow because I am using BlitzBasic
images for the size adjusments it produces good heightmaps.
You can set the following parameters: Heightmap Size,
Largest Mountain Size, Steepness, Contrast and Surface
Roughness. It may find good use in RTS or FPS games.

BlitzMax / OpenGL Camera
Class Tutorial using Quaternions. |
 |
This tutorial
covers an extendable Camera Class for OpenGL. It uses
Quaternions to avoid the so called 'Gimbal Lock' which
results from applying several Eular rotations to a matrix.
A detailed explanation can be found here.
It is possible to change the Field Of View (FOV), the
Aspect Ratio as well as the Far and Near clipping plane.
The code comes with an example that can be executed.

Projects I have been working
on or am working on. |
I am not confined to texturing
and coding. Actually I love to do many different things instead
of repeating something over and over. But I suppose you are
already aware of that since you have seen that I am doing
textures as well as codes, which is rather rare as far as
I know.

The 'Half-Life Period'. |
I have been working for
Half-Life modifications like Task-Force,
Move In!
and Escape
From The Darkness (Has been shown on the German TV show
'NBC Giga'). In my 'Half-Life-Period' I have also been admin
of modarchiv.net, a site that reviewed mods. An article of
that site has been printed in a German computer games magazine
called PC Action (about 400,000 Readers).

The 'Blitz Period'. |
I realized
relatively fast that with modding, especially for Half-Life,
you are very limited. At that time Blitz
Basic caught my attention coincidentally. Since I had
been doing QBasic stuff at school and I liked it I gave it
a try. And man, this tool is awesome.
I have always had the dream of coding and designing my own
realtime strategy game. With Blitz3D
, the successor of Blitz Basic, I was given a tool that was
perfect for that purpose. It began with a simple 2D game but
I soon realized that 3D is 'bigger and better'. Since it is
impossible to create a strategy game on your own, I invited
Christian 'freakadelle' Bliß (for meshes
and textures) and OJay (for the editor and
some miscellaneous stuff) to help me.
The bad thing is that I did not have enough spare time to
continue the project. Maybe I will work on it again once I
have my 'Abitur' (German university-entrance diploma).

I am not responsible for
the sites that are linked.
You can use all textures, skyboxes and/or BlitzBasic, Blitz3D,
BlitzMax source codes downloaded from one of my sites freely
in commercial and non-commercial projects but I will always
stay the original author. Although it's not a must, credits
and a link to my site would be nice and appreciated. |
